PHOBIAS
Causes of Phobias
Phobias are caused by the oldest part of our brain designed long ago to warn us of dangers such as snakes, bears and hungry lions…
However, he is currently acting as an overprotective caregiver* and it is up to YOU to decide if you want to listen to these danger warnings or risk living your life.
In a scientific study** they revealed that when presented with images with threatening content, an early increase in Theta waves is noted in the occipital lobe (the area of the brain where visual information is processed), followed by an increase in activity in the frontal lobe (where higher mental functions such as decision making occur). Additionally, a pattern of Beta waves associated with motor behavior (such as the impulse to run) was identified.
Although Beta is the dominant rhythm and completely normal in those who are sometimes on alert or feel anxious, it is important to be able to shift to a more relaxed state when we decide that we are NOT in danger.
With neurofeedback we train your brain to be able to get out of this state of continuous alert.
